The Ein Harod Art Center is the leading and oldest museum in the north, which presents exhibitions of the best artists in Israel and the world. The museum houses one of the largest collections of Jewish artists from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Alongside an extensive collection of Israeli art and Judaica objects from around the world.
The museum building is a magnificent piece of modernist architecture, which is based entirely on natural lighting (designed by the architect Shmuel Bickles 1909 – 1975).
Fourteen – ten wide and high exhibition halls, magical inner courtyards and a special and attractive atmosphere, which is an inspiration to world-renowned architects. In the museum, there are frequent training sessions for the audience, in the exhibitions, on the history and on the subject of architecture. Its extraordinary historical story, the exhibits on display, and the architecture of natural light invite a special experience for visitors to the art shelter.

The museum collection – The museum has a rich collection that began in the 1930s, which includes works by Jewish artists from around the world, Israeli art from its beginnings to the present day, as well as Judaica collections. The museum’s collections are combined with modern exhibitions to create a renewed look at the past from a point of departure for the present and from an intention for the future to come. The main line of thought in all the museum’s activities is a judgmental view of aspects that have not received attention in the official history of Israeli art and asking questions of identity, of the individual and of the collective. The exhibitions presented throughout the museum are a starting point for audience meetings, events in the various fields of art, music, cinema as well as interdisciplinary art.
The drawing and graphics collection:
The painting and graphics collection of the Art Center includes paintings by Jewish painters from the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century who painted in different trends: the Eastern European Jewish realism painters such as Maurycy Gottlieb, Shmuel Hirschenberg, Leopold Horowitz, Maurycy Minkowski, Arthur Markowitz, Isidore Kaufman and others.
Also represented are new trends in the paintings of the group of Expressionists and Cubists from Russia, Central Europe and the School of Paris. Paintings by Jewish-American painters are also preserved in the collection. Hundreds of Jewish artists perished in the Holocaust; An entire generation of creators was destroyed in Paris, Poland, Germany, Austria, Holland and Belgium, Yugoslavia and Greece. The art center has a collection of their works: Hanoch Barczynski, Maurici Trembacz, Regina Mundlak, Roman Kramsztyk and the brothers Ephraim and Menashe Seidenbeutel. Aizik Feder, George Kars, Marcel Slodki, Bura Baruch, Slavko Brill and many others.
The Israeli painting:
Israeli painting is represented in the Mishkan art collection in the works of the best artists representing the various currents and the many groups present in Israeli art throughout its history.
The sculpture collection:
In the sculpture courtyards and the sculpture collection are sculptures by the first Jewish sculptors Mark Antokolsky and Hanoch Glitzenstein next to works from the beginning of Israeli sculpture by Ze’ev Ben Zvi, Rudy Lehmann, Dov Feigin and Yehiel Shemi to contemporary works by contemporary artists.
